[FAIRFAX, Va., Mar. 14, 2024] – FedWriters®, a leading government contracting firm, has been awarded a three-year, $2.6 million contract with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, to provide Public Relations and Outreach Support services.

FedWriters will develop communications strategies to advance trade development for the Seaway System, which moves over 135 million metric tons of cargo through the waterway to ports throughout the Great Lakes valued at $26 billion annually.  This waterborne commerce supports nearly a quarter million U.S. jobs and generates $36 billion in economic activity.

“The St. Lawrence Seaway – and the Great Lakes ports in the U.S. that depend on its international connectivity – will benefit immensely from this contract work. I will be sharing news of this contract award with key Great Lakes stakeholders in the days ahead,” said U.S. Department of Transportation Administrator Adam Tindall-Schlicht.

Mitchell Cho, FedWriters CEO, said, “Our experience in the Great Lakes region with other federal agencies has resulted in our intimate understanding of the environmental, business, and logistical intricacies of the region. This means we’ll be able to provide communication strategies that are technically robust and contextually aligned with the unique demands of the Great Lakes ecosystem.”

The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation was created by statute in 1954 to construct, operate, and maintain that part of the St. Lawrence Seaway between the Port of Montreal and Lake Erie.
